How to choose a longevity clinic, a 10-point checklist

What separates evidence-based longevity practices from wellness marketing, and the questions to ask before you sign up.

Longevity medicine has grown quickly, and quality varies. Use this checklist when comparing clinics, including the ones you find on this site.

  1. Who’s providing care? Look for licensed physicians (MD or DO) or nurse practitioners working under clear medical oversight.
  2. What’s their background? Board certification in internal, family or preventive medicine, or in cardiology or endocrinology, is a good sign.
  3. Is testing tied to decisions? Every test should have a reason and a plan for what happens next.
  4. Do they explain the evidence? Good clinicians are open about which treatments are well supported and which are still experimental.
  5. What does it cost, all-in? Get membership fees, lab costs and imaging fees in writing.
  6. Will they work with your primary care doctor? Coordinated care avoids duplicate tests and conflicting advice.
  7. How often will you be seen? Ask what follow-up looks like and who you can reach between visits.
  8. What do patients say? Read reviews for comments on communication and follow-through, not just the star rating.
  9. Are there hard sells? Be wary of pressure to buy supplements, IV drips or peptides on the first visit.
  10. Is telehealth available? Useful for follow-ups, especially if the clinic isn’t close by.

A clinic marked Sponsored on this site has paid for that placement. It hasn’t been vetted any more than other listings, so apply the same checklist.

This guide is general information, not medical advice. Talk to a licensed clinician about what's right for you.
